Oxytocin is a synthetic cyclic nonapeptide, a peptide of nine amino acids. A disulfide bond between the cysteine residues at positions 1 and 6 closes a ring. It is supplied as a lyophilized powder, 10 mg per vial, in packs of 1, 4 or 10 vials.
Identification. PubChem lists the compound as oxytocin (CID 439302), CAS 50-56-6. The sequence is Cys-Tyr-Ile-Gln-Asn-Cys-Pro-Leu-Gly-NH2. Ocytocin is another listed spelling.
Batch documentation. Each batch is released with a certificate of analysis. The batch table on this page links the certificate for each lot. More reports are listed on the lab reports page. Identity and purity of peptides are usually determined by HPLC and mass spectrometry.
Storage. Store the closed vial refrigerated at 2-8 °C, dry and away from direct light.
This material is sold for laboratory research only. It is not intended for human or veterinary use.
- In vitro research: Intended for cell-free and cell-based laboratory experiments.
- Analytical reference: Usable as comparison material in HPLC and mass spectrometry work.
- Stability studies: Material for studies of peptide stability under defined storage conditions.
- Batch documentation: Each lot is linked to its certificate of analysis in the batch table.
- Active Ingredient: Oxytocin Peptide – 10 mg
- Inactive Ingredients: Lyophilized powder without preservatives
- Oxytocin Vials: Quantity based on selected package (1, 4, or 10 vials of 10 mg each)
- Test Certificate: Included to confirm product purity and quality
Oxytocin consists of nine amino acids. The cysteines at positions 1 and 6 form a disulfide bond. This gives a ring of six residues and a short tail of three residues. The C-terminal glycine is present as an amide. The identifiers below are taken from PubChem.
