GHK-Cu

GHK-Cu is the copper(II) complex of the synthetic tripeptide glycyl-L-histidyl-L-lysine (Gly-His-Lys, GHK). It is supplied as a lyophilized powder, 50 mg per vial.

Identification. PubChem lists the free tripeptide as glycyl-L-histidyl-L-lysine (CID 73587, CAS 49557-75-7) and the copper complex under CID 71587328 (CAS 89030-95-5). Another listed name is GHK copper.

Background. GHK was first isolated from human plasma in 1973. Structural work later characterized its copper(II) complex by X-ray crystallography and spectroscopy. It is dimeric in the solid state and monomeric in solution, with three nitrogen donors from the peptide (Hureau et al., Chemistry, 2011).
